Title: Ruby on Rails Engineer

We’re seeking a Rails engineer to help Santa.com in our effort to build the world’s leading social commerce site. Description

Santa.com is looking for an extraordinary engineer who is ready to tackle the startup life and be responsible for building the Santa.com website. We are seeking an organized, well-rounded, and extremely talented individual who is passionate about the Internet, social media, good usability practices, Web 2.0 capabilities, and is obsessed with constructing an amazing site and helping grow a great business. You’ll report directly to Santa’s CTO. The individual we're looking for wants a chance to spread their wings and grow with a fast-moving company. Competitive cash and equity compensation.

We’re looking for an experienced Ruby on Rails engineer with many, if not most, of the following:

Skills and Experience

• Development of significant portions of at least one commercial or publicly viewable Rails-based site
• A demonstrated understanding of MVC architectures, separation of concerns, and where to put which code
• A good understanding of Ruby and an ability to use its beauty to write efficient, understandable code
• A deep familiarity with Rails 3.x
• Skills with Javascript, AJAX, and building cool Ux interactions in the view layer
• Skills with SQL and relational databases
• Understanding of and experience with NoSQL data stores (such as Mongo)
• Experience developing services that interact with other services via their API’s
• Experience building API’s to expose services to mobile and other clients
• Experience performance tuning, developing caching strategies, and getting a system to scale
• A track record of working successfully in both an early-stage development team and a more mature one as the organization grows

• A “can do” attitude, a preference for saying “Yes!”, and a scrappy, entrepreneurial spirit
• A flexible and non-dogmatic approach to developing software
• A non-competitive, “plays well with others” personality, capable of both teaching and learning from teammates
• A love of great design in service of the user, the product, and the business
• A sense of humor and an ability to handle the inevitable periods of stress with grace
