Valentine’s Day is meant to be a day of love and enjoying time spent together, but finding the perfect way to celebrate can be a daunting task. It doesn’t have to be that way though! Valentine’s Day can be an excuse to have fun, not a reason to worry. Whether you’ve only been dating a few weeks or have been together for years, you can have a fun, low-key V-Day that doesn’t make anyone feel the pressure. Here are a few ideas below that will surprise and bring a smile to anyone’s face.

White Castle Dinner

This is something I have always wanted to do for V-Day, and I think anyone with a sense of humor would get a kick out of it. White Castle normally does this every year but check that your local one is participating before trying to make reservations. Yes, I just said White Castle and reservations in the same sentence. It’s a romantic, candlelit dinner at White Castle. I know it sounds insane and ridiculous but that’s sort of the point. They decorate the restaurant and cover the tables with nice tablecloths. Instead of counter service, they have waitstaff serve you at the table. This is a great idea for anyone who isn’t a picky eater and wants a one-of-a-kind, silly V-Day.

Aquarium

Maybe this is just me, but I love the aquarium. I’ve always thought it seemed like the perfect place for a date. Lots of things to see, great ways to start conversations, and fish of course! If this is a V-Day date for a relatively new relationship, this is an extremely relaxed choice. You can even impress your date with fish puns! Unless fish puns aren’t as funny as I think they are. Either way, you can enjoy the sights and sounds of the ocean’s wonders from the comfort of dry land and there’s nothing more romantic than that.

Board Game Café

If you know for a fact that your date or partner doesn’t like board games, this might be the wrong choice. Unless of course, you’re intentionally pushing them out of their comfort zone, which also might not be the best choice. However, if you both really like board games or are at least open to the idea, this can be such a fun Valentine’s Day date! These cafés usually charge you for the table or hourly but will have a huge selection of games to choose from. Many also serve snacks and coffee and whatnot. So, why not grab two cups of coffee, a game you’ve been dying to play, and have a fun-filled night of gaming and flirtation?

Movie Night

Partly a no-brainer but also an idea that shouldn’t be discounted. A lot of people would scoff at the notion of simply watching a movie at home on V-Day or even seeing one! For many, Valentine’s Day is synonymous with expensive dinners out when in fact it has nothing to do with that at all. If the person you’re with really cares about you, it won’t matter how expensive something is or extravagant the festivities. What matters is the time you spend together and watching a movie can easily be romantic. You can go out and catch a new release or stay at home and do a Marvel movie marathon! If both parties are having a good time, it doesn’t matter if you go out or not. So don’t sweat it!

Ping Pong Bar

Looking for a high-octane date that you don’t have to take that seriously? Ping Pongs bars are just the thing! Go toe-to-toe in a friendly game of table tennis with drinks and snacks aplenty. In recent years, these types of bars have popped up everywhere. Although they’re not as prevalent as the ever-popular "bar-cade," another excellent date choice, they’re starting to catch on! A night at these tables will make for a date your partner won’t soon forget.
