I Choose Joy
Mindset is everything. If we let negative experiences, situations or interactions with people affect us, we are essentially letting them live rent free in our head. I know it sounds weird, but It’s advice my Father once gave me. By this he meant, If you’re worrying and allowing these things to take up your mindspace with their negativity you’re hindering your own Joy. I have come to realise as I get older that my Father was right. (Thanks Dad!)
In my teens I let nothing go. I was angry and felt wronged by many things that happened in my childhood. My anxiety was at an all time high because I would let these things run wild in my mind and affect my daily decisions and attitude towards life. At times it still happens but I always try to remind myself it’s not doing any good to worry because nothing productive is ever accomplished with worry. I had a bad mindset that only contributed to depression by focusing on the negative.
Life isn’t always easy but if we are choosing to learn from hard times we allow ourselves to consciously make the decision to forgive others and focus on the many things that bring us joy. Forgiveness takes the weight of worry off of your shoulders. It doesn't mean what happened was right or that we have to forget, it simply means you have decided to choose Joy over, worry, anxiety, stress and negativity.
Because in the end you are taking control of your life and enjoying all the wonderful things it has to offer. I hope this reminds you to love yourself, others and let yourself release anything that is holding you back from the happiness and joy you deserve.
